Summary
This review is based on author's perspective and actual experience may differ on individual's own preferences.
Good
  • Story - The storyline of Personal Trainer takes an intriguing turn when the protagonist's life falls apart after being cheated on and losing his job. While the initial setup holds promise, the execution suffers due to the incomplete nature of the game. Story arcs abruptly end, leaving players hanging and characters responding in a repetitive and predictable manner. - 57%
  • Visual - Personal Trainer's visuals start off looking somewhat dated but show improvement as the game progresses. The renders become more refined, although they are still not on par with the top-tier games in the genre. Animations, unfortunately, lack quality, mostly consisting of basic two-frame loops. While a few longer animations show improvement, the overall visual presentation leaves much to be desired. - 66%
  • Engagement - One of the game's major drawbacks lies in its limited interactivity and lack of meaningful choices. Personal Trainer, despite offering a sandbox experience, fails to provide players with enough opportunities to shape the narrative or gameplay. Too often, players find themselves engaging in repeated events and waiting around for characters to appear, resulting in a sense of wasted time. - 44%
  • Core Loop - The core concept of Personal Trainer holds potential, revolving around a jilted fiancé seeking a mixture of solace and revenge. Regrettably the execution falls short. The game lacks clear objectives, leaving players feeling uncertain about their goals and progression. The user interface further exacerbates the issue, with clunky menus and a lack of intuitiveness hindering the overall flow of the game. - 52%
