Summary
This review is based on author's perspective and actual experience may differ on individual's own preferences.
Good
  • Story - The narrative of Move the Chains presents a compelling premise that draws players into its world. The game's developer, evidently a fan of adult visual novels, has woven a story that is influenced by various other works in the genre. While the plot is well-crafted and engaging, there's a noticeable absence of unique personality that could truly set the game apart. It's like a delicious dish that's missing a touch of exotic spice. However, kudos to the branching paths in the story that create opportunities for diverse experiences. A dash of originality and more profound emotional resonance would significantly elevate the storytelling. - 92%
  • Visual - The visual presentation of Move the Chains is undeniably a highlight. The game boasts tremendous production value, evident from its artistic direction and character design. The visual assets are detailed, and the characters are brought to life with vibrant visuals that capture attention. The in-game scenes are artistically captivating and contribute significantly to the overall immersion. These visuals are a testament to the care and attention to detail put into the game's aesthetics, enhancing the overall player experience. - 78%
  • Engagement - Move the Chains successfully keeps players engaged through its compelling plot and visually appealing scenes. The game's pacing is generally well-maintained, although there are instances where long dialogues hinder the flow. While the inclusion of meaningful choices is a positive aspect, there are times when the game tends to steer the narrative in the direction the developer intended. This can sometimes diminish the sense of player agency that's expected in this genre. Additionally, the prevalence of unsolicited advice from various characters can come across as preachy and disrupt the immersion. - 80%
  • Core Loop - The core gameplay loop of Move the Chains involves navigating the narrative, making choices, and interacting with characters. While this loop is familiar and well-executed, it does lack some level of interactivity that could keep players more engaged. Meaningful choices should impact the story's direction more significantly, creating a sense of personal investment. Furthermore, the game's reluctance to deviate from the developer's intended path occasionally limits the replayability and variety that is expected in this genre. - 84%
